3.Adobe media encoder – Basically all you have to do to encode media is open your chosen file then adjust the settings in settings. You can adjust the type of codec you want by chosing either flv, f4v or h.264 format. Then press start Queue and it will encode the file for you and save it to your desktop.

Quicktime – Step 1 – Open

Open your Video file in QuickTime

Step 2 – Exporting

Choose ‘Export…’ from the file menu

Step 3 – Select the Destination

Type in the name of the movie you want to create and select the location where you want to save it. Select ‘Movie to QuickTime Movie’ from the Export popup menu, then click ‘Options…’.

Step 4 – Movie Settings

Click ‘Settings…’ in the Video Section of the dialog box.

Step 5 – Sound Settings

Select ‘ from the Compressor pop-up menu.

Configure the Video Settings as appropriate

Step 6 – Sound Settings

Click the ‘Options…’ button

Step 7 – MPEG-4 Audio Compressor

Make sure the Encoder Quality is set to ‘Better’

Configure the Compressor as desired.

Step 8 – Save the Settings

Click ‘OK’ in both dialog boxes

Step 9 – Start Encoding

Click ‘OK’ and ‘Save’ to start encoding

Windows Media Encoder – 1.Once you’ve got the encoder installed and your source file prepared, open the Windows Media Encoder. 2. Covert an existing video file into Windows Media format. Now input the location of our source file and then name it an output filename. Next you select the encoding rate of your media file. The encoding rate that is best for you varies with your audience and what you want to achieve. You may hit the Finish button here if you wish and proceed directly to the encoding process, or you can enter some descriptive text for your media clip that will be displayed while it is playing. After reviewing your settings and making any necessary changes, hit Finish to start the encoding process.

RealProducer
1. Start RealProducer Plus 2. On the 2nd screen of the Recording Wizard, select both the Capture Audio and the Capture Video check boxes if you are decording a video media. Select only the Capture Audio check box if you are decording a voice only media. Then click Next> to continue. 3. On the 3rd screen, type in information in the

and Keywords: fields if you want these information to be shown at the beginning of the resulted RealMedia file when the file is played. Then click Next> to continue. 4. On the 4th screen, select the Multi-rate SureStream for RealServer option. Then click Next> to continue. 5. On the 5th screen, by assuming the audience exist in both modem and LAN connection, so we select both the 56K Modem and the Corporate LAN options for video media. For audio media, select the 28K Modem only. You are strongly recommanded not to select more than 2 options on this screen at any time! Click Next> to continue. 6. On the 6th screen, accept the default Voice Only option and click Next> to continue. 7. On the 7th screen, select the Sharpest Image Video option for high action clips(recommanded). Click Next> to continue. 8. On the 8th screen, type in the output file name you prefer. Please note that you should use the D: drive to save your file, and your file name should be ended with the extension .rm. Click Next> to continue. 9. On the 9th screen, check all the information that you have just input. Use the < Back button to correct the information when needed. Then finally, Click Finish to continue. 10. In RealProducer Plus, you are allowed to select one of the 3 Image Sizes for your RealVideo file output. The Image Size is the screen size of your RealVideo file when being played by the RealPlayer. 11. Start and End the Encoding

DivX – There is no way to encode a media file through DivX.

The smaller one is quicker but it doesn’t do as good of a job visually and the exact opposite for higher bandwidths.

FLV video format winning

The format has quickly established itself as the format of choice for embedded video on the web.
Notable users of the Flash Video format include YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo! Video, metacafe, Reuters.com, and many other news providers.
The standards documentation for BBC Online deprecates the use of other formats previously in use on its sites such as RealVideo or WMV.

FLV MetaData Injector (FLVMDI) is a Win32 console (command line) application that can add ‘onMetaData’ AMF data to FLV files. (There’s also a GUI frontend FLVMDIGUI). FLVMDI optionally saves an XML version of the injected data, and can add an additional string data or save the onMetaData data to an XML file. FLVMDI has some unique functionality, but it’s not as vital now because flashcom 1.5.2+ and Flash Video Exporter 1.2+ adds the required metadata.

Flash 8 Video Encoder inserts the correct MetaData. Also Sorenson Squeeze 4.2 is released on Sept 20, 2005, hopefully they fixed the metadata issues.

FLVMDI is free to use, but you cannot distribute it or link directly to the download. FLVMDI is not exactly freeware, but only free to use and at your own risk that is. All rights other than granted here belong to Manitu Group.

To create a rich media website using a content management system all you have to do is add a few files and a style.css file with a file uploader. This can be found on your hosting site. Then basically you create a sub site like wp.lickityflip.com. The wp in front of course stands for Word Press. Then in Word Press you can add themes and plug-ins, whatever you wish. Also even more important you can add movies, audio, graphics and change the look and layout of your webpage all along the left side of the word press programming portfolio.

Set up/Configuration:

Setup was failry easy once I got the hang of it. I thought it was beneficial becasue it is fairly convienient.

Custimization:

The customization is quite simple becasue i have experience wokring with CSS in Dream WQeaver. I thought it was neat using Web Developer to measure sizes of the Divs and such.

Authentication:

It seems legitimate to me and not a rip off of another web applcation. It’s easy to login and I feel it is safe and secure.

Content Control:

I can control the content by using the commands and features. This makes it simple to update.

Professional/Social Netwroking:

It is professional in the layout and how it is discreet yet simple to look at and comment on.

Managing Media Assets:

There’s a variety of plug-ins to use as well as different themes. To manage videos, audios and graphics is just a few clicks of a button, some importation of URLs and there you have it!

Basically you go to a file manager and create a few file folders, create a style.css and upload files. I did mine through www.bluehost.com as the rest of the class did. Then all you do is create a word press account and add plug-ins and themes. The css code in the child theme is basically the same as the css in Dream Weaver as far as I know.  Add pages, posts, media and pages to however you want. Change colors, themes and interactive media with a few clicks and that’s basically it.

I learned that Dream Weaver is not the only way to create webpages. You can basically create a page through this site and it’s fairly simple, it’s like having a program right at your finger tips and the website right there all in one. I thought the web developer application was interesting and is great for getting measurements and info about the page.

I think this would be useful to post works that have been done before by just a few clicks. It makes advertising simple. I would use word press in other projects to create layouts and themes and then take the code and upload it into my main project. This site seems a little easier for trying things out.
